Vanilla & Peanut Butter Protein Bars
By Anna Sward of Protein Pow
These protein bars are extremely easy to make and take just under five minutes to assemble. You don’t need any special tools to make them either – just your two hands, a bowl, and a pot to melt your chocolate in.
One of the really cool things about these bars too is that you can play around with the filling. So, for example, you can substitute the vanilla whey for chocolate or add some of your own cocoa powder to the mix to make dark-chocolatey bars. You can also add some chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the mix for some extra crunch and flavor. Whatever you do, remember just one thing: taste your batter before you coat it in chocolate to ensure it hits all the right notes BUT make sure you don’t eat it all before you coat them in chocolate! I know far too many people who go in for a taste and end up eating the whole thing, whoops :)
Ingredients
¼ cup of Bulk Powders pea protein powder
¼ cup of oats
¼ cup of honey
2 tbsp Bulk Powders vanilla whey protein powder
2 tbsp peanut (or hazelnut) butter
2 tbsp water (or milk)
2 tbsp ground almond
3-4 squares of dark chocolate (30-40g)
Directions
1. In a bowl, mix all your ingredients except for the dark chocolate and roll the mix into a dough (if it’s too sticky, add a bit more ground almonds)
2. Flatten the dough into a nonstick baking pan (or onto some parchment paper).
3. Cut the dough into four bars.
4. Melt your dark chocolate in a bain-marie (a glass bowl on top of a pot of boiling water).
5. Dunk your bars in the melted chocolate or simply spoon the melted chocolate on top of the bars before turning them over to coat the other side
6. Put them in the fridge for an hour or until the chocolate sets.
